The Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon inaugurated -on February 10th- the ‘Casa Universitaria del Libro.’ a new university space for culture, and the Department of Information Technology (DGI, Spanish abbreviation) played an important role in the project.
The new university building which is located on the corner of Padre Mier and Vallarta streets –in the downtown of Monterrey- will have a bookshop specialized in books published by the UANL, and it will be act as the new facilities of the Leading Academic Institution Department of Publications and as a designing and publishing workshop.
The ‘Casa Universitaria del Libro’ joint the UANL Institutional Network, for this reason, the DGI has given to it all access services to Institutional Systems, Internet, Wireless Network and Telephony.
“The service was really efficient, personnel was really kind; everything was really nice, attention, availability and service were so good,” said Lorena Contreras Rodriguez, member of the Department of Publications and one of the main contacts in the DGI for this project.
DGI personnel installed 50 network nodes and 59 regulated power nodes, 23 computers, seven Workstation, two laptops, one iMac and nine printers. Three communication and accessories equipment were also installed, as well as two wireless network equipments, 14 telephone devices, audio and video equipments such as video projectors and plasma screens.
Likewise, access to the different institutional systems such as university e-mail, UANL Portal, Libraries –CODICE- and more was given.
The day of the inauguration, the DGI installed plasma screens in different places of the building where the ‘Casa Universitaria del Libro’ logo could be seen, and which was used as the stage design of the building.
