During the commemorative event of DGI 40th anniversary, engineer Jose Luis Garza Quiroga was interviewed; he was one of the founders of the UANL Department of Information Technology, and was working at the Electronic Center for Calculus from March 1974 to March 1976; he is currently manager of the company called ‘Productos de Proceso y Lubricantes, S.A.
Q: What do you think about the changes between the old Electronic Center for Calculus and the current Department of Information Technology?
A: The changes are really big, we congratulated you for the great work you have done; in this visit, which we were invited to by Ing. Alberto Zambrano, DGI director, we have noticed your formidable achievements. I hope you keep working and improving with that rate for the benefit of all university community and society.
Q: If you were part of the current DGI work team, in which Department would you like to work in?
A: Well, I have always liked systems development, but today that we walked around DGI facilities, I have noticed there are many areas to work in, I would like, maybe, an area focused on systems development for industry.
Q: Do you have any advice for the new generations that currently work in the DGI?
A: Well, if they keep working at this rate, they will always be in the vanguard of information technology; actually I think that people who work here are well-trained professionals, they are doing a lot of work in technology and all the effort they carry out is worth.
