The Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (UANL), for the third consecutive year, and through the Department of Information Technology (DGI, Spanish abbreviation), attended the Education Briefing-MEXICO FY11, a meeting organized by Microsoft Corporation.
The lecture, which was carried out in the headquarters of the corporation, located in Redmond, WA, United States of America, got different Mexican universities’ technology area representatives together on March 3rd and 4th, 2011 in order to talk about the tendencies given by Microsoft -in products and services- to the international academic community.
During the lecture called –in its third edition- ‘Sesion Ejecutiva para Instituciones del Sector Educativo,’ the DGI presented for first time ‘Soluciones Institucinales en la UANL.’
We have to mention that the UANL, in its presentation, showed the solutions developed -as a successful case of integrated online services- for giving service to more than 130,000 students, 7,500 professors and administrative personnel of 26 schools and 29 high schools in this institution.
All this caused good comments of Microsoft personnel as well as counterparts of other universities such as the Universidad Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), Instituto Tecnologico y de Esutdios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), Universidad del Valle de Maexico (UVM), Instituto Politecnico Nacional (IPN), Universidad Autonoma de Coahuila (UAC), Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) and the Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosi (UASLP), and more.
NEXUS, the platform of Teaching-Learning (LMS) and the Integrated System for the Libraries Management, CODICE, as well as the Integrated System for the Academic Services Management (ERP), SIASE and the System of Information for the Quality Management, KAIZEN (ISO 9001:2008) were among the institutional systems –that were raised- developed by the UANL and with intellectual property registration .
The person in charge of that presentation was Ing. Alberto Zambrano, UANL Department of Information Technology Director. Likewise, Ing. Joaquin Huante, Computing and Software Deputy Director; Ing. Noel Hortiales and Lic. Sara Rodulfo, Platform and Technology Coordinator also attended this event.
We have to mention that in this first lecture of the UANL in the Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, WA, United States of America, the Leading Academic Institution received recognitions because of its great advance, standing out not only for having avant-garde technology, but for establishing –in the UANL- the best international specialized practices for TI Processes such as ITIL, CMMI, PMI, COBIT, ICREA, ISO 9001:2008, which are essential to guarantee quality in the service -7x24x365- to all university community, being conscious of the strategic importance of the Information Technologies in the World Class International Organization.
