The Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon University Center for Health was inaugurated in presence of UANL President Jesus Ancer Rodriguez, university and Nuevo Leon directors.
On October 6th, 2010 at 8:30 o’clock the ribbon was cut, the ribbon of what started 34 years ago as the Institutional Program of Health and which gives service to the university community and all Nuevo Leon people in different places of Monterrey metropolitan area.
“We wanted to have a Center in which technology, connectivity and Schools of health area and Ministry of Health of Nuevo Leon could be part of it,” said Dr. Ancer Rodriguez.
The Department of Information Technology participated in the creation of University Center for Health as the institution in charge of the necessary infrastructure for technological functioning.
All UANL health area clinics have computers where they entry their daily report, the information will be focused on the Center in order to generate reports and exchange of information.
Martha Beatriz Martinez, Information Technology Center Director said: “The Department of Information Technology has supported us in everything. It is participating in several projects and it’s supporting us to change our local systems technology through Internet.”
Martinez said that information technology area is trying to link all Centers for Health of Nuevo Leon to have consultations, videoconferences and tele-education.
DGI gave infrastructure services of data network and regulated and uninterrumpted power to the new facilities as well as videoconference, wireless network, telephone devices, computers, printers and more technological equipment.
Network wiring with Gigabit Ethernet speed was also installed as well as communications equipments of Cisco technology which fullfil requirements of requiered bandwidth for internal network.
The University Center for Health will attend more than 200 thousand consultations per year of family practice, gynecology, internal medicine, pediatrics, nursing, podiatry, dentistry, nutrition, clinical laboratoy, psychology and social work in clinics which are all around metropolitan area.
The Center will carry out several academic actions, health services, research and telecommunications in order to strengthen teaching and permanent training for University professors.
The Center also has six multiprofessional and two dentistry clinics which 84 professors work in as well as 1,200 students in rotation from different health schools.
